Daily Star reports man 'confesses' to rapes before he's executed

A video posted online on January 13 shows a man “confessing” to having fought with the Iraqi Shiite Abu al-Fadl Abbas militia in Aleppo and participating in half a dozen rapes, reports Lebanon’s Daily Star.

A religious official later appears in the video affirming that the man has been executed for those crimes, though the video itself does not show the execution, according to the newspaper.

The dates of the reported sexualized violence are unknown. Because Syrian government officials currently refuse to allow access to journalists, researchers, and aid workers, WMC's Women Under Siege cannot independently verify this report of sexualized violence in Syria.
